Apparently, My Mother Doesn’t Love Me

December 27, 2010

We were walking back to campus after the costume fitting, jaywalking against traffic.

Her: “Why do you always insist on waving and chatting with strangers?”

Me: “My mother always encouraged me to meet people!  You know, a stranger is a friend you haven’t met yet.  She told me to talk with the world and the world talks back- or something like that.”

Her:  “Well, my mother didn’t encourage me to talk to strangers.   But then again, she loved me.”

Welcome to the foibles of a girl who was encouraged to talk to strangers as a kid.  A girl who always asks for the middle seat on airplane flights.  Cause you never know who you are going to meet.
